V-AiR is a virtual reality experience designed for airport waiting rooms. Check a mockup below:
The air company’s passenger may use it to relax, play or even plan his/her next trip, using just his/her boarding pass to login. The experience is fully customized based on air company’s passenger data and also previous sessions usage. Furthermore, the passenger can safely enjoy the experience, knowing that V-AiR will display on screen important announcements regarding his/her next flight.
This is an academic project made in 2017 for Digital Games Development Course of FIAP (Faculdade de Informática e Administração Paulista).
The project consists in two modules that communicate between each other via network.
The first one is a totem, a touchscreen enabled device that allows the passenger to scan the boarding pass, in order to identify him/her in the database and setup one of the available seats for usage. In addition, the totem is responsible for sending special announcements to a device in play session, like boarding time, delays, gate changes, etc.
Here are some screens from the totem module:

The second module is a full VR device, with headset and controller. The passenger can use it after authentication in totem module. Following some simple instructions, the user can navigate menus to choose an experience. Featured experiences are based on passengers profile or according to air company’s desire.
For the demo, three experiences were designed and implemented to show a glimpse of the possibilities: a simple city tour in Paris, a VR video quiz and a VR game.
